They say that being a sportsperson is all about accepting the situation as is. But, that doesn’t mean that you accept the defeat without putting your best effort. You must have witnessed teams losing and winning, but there is an evident difference between those who give in, and those who lose after fighting. Those of you who partake in sporting events regularly will notice a fighting spirit among you. So much so that you will not like to go down even when the chips are down, and things seem to be against you. A true sportsperson never gives up no matter how bad the situation may be. Call it a part of his training or the attitude he had learned during the time he played sports, but there is something that will help him stand up and fight every time he feels down and out. It is possible that you might be thinking on the same lines when in trouble, but this is what being a sportsperson is all about. Perhaps the best thing sports does to one’s life is when you see the odds against you but instead of losing without fighting, you do the opposite. Remember, being a sportsperson is truly an amazing feeling, and you will notice that the moment you spend time thinking about what being a sportsperson is all about:
Accepting the situation
Without even realizing, you will learn so many things during learning that it might come to you as a surprise. Call it a benefit of sorts if you like, but during training, you will develop habits that will help you overcome challenges. If not, you will at least learn about how to keep yourself in check after defeat. Accepting the situation is perhaps the most important part of being a sportsperson. It will give you the ability to analyze and make decision according to the situation. Also, you will be able to rationalize things more clearly than before, which is something that also comes when you indulge yourself into sporting activities.
Despite all the efforts, if you still end up losing the game, you will stay rational and will not lose yourself. This simply suggest that you like to stay competitive and wish to lose with dignity. If you end up winning, then you do it with dignity without humiliating others. You learn to give respect as you command the respect of others too. Being competitive is a trait that you will learn while indulging into sporting activities so look forward to it and try to remain as competitive whether you partake in sports or in real life.
Team player One of the most important traits that you will learn being a sportsperson. You will remain a team player and will not take credit of the situation solely even if you had a bigger share of the success, you will remain humble. This is because even a small share means a lot, and your team might have not succeeded without a team effort.
